67 Young Mothers Trained by InspiNest in Kwatire, Sunyani.

The youth empowerment-focused Not-For-Profit Organization in Sunyani, InspiNest Foundation, has successfully trained 67 young mothers in Kwatire, located approximately 20 minutes’ drive from the Sunyani township. The participating young mothers, comprising the first cohort of the NGO’s transformative project, were beneficiaries from Kwatire and its neighboring communities, Adentia and Adoe.

The training for this cohort commenced on Tuesday, 11th February 2025, at the Kwatire Durbar Grounds. This ample outdoor space, which serves as a convergence point for most of the community’s gatherings, housed the determined young mothers who had been enrolled in the project’s Make-Up Artistry, Soap-Making, Hair Braiding, Wig-Making, and Bead-Making classes.

Alongside these hands-on skills, the mothers also participated in development-focused discussion forums, addressing crucial topics such as entrepreneurship, maternal health, mindset transformation, sexual and reproductive health and rights, and access to support services for survivors of abuse. These sessions were made possible through collaborations with organizations such as the Planned Parenthood Association of Ghana and the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit of the Ghana Police Service, who provided expert facilitation on these key topics.

On 7th March 2025, the excited beneficiaries, together with their community leaders, converged at the Kwatire Durbar Grounds in an ecstatic graduation ceremony which climaxed the entrepreneurial training and development of the young mothers from Kwatire, Adoe and Adentia. A showcase of their handcrafted products impressed attendees and demonstrated the skills the women had acquired thus far. The 67 young mothers were awarded certificates attesting to their dedication and achievement in the presence of their community leaders, family, and friends.

The community leaders could not hide their joy and pride in the transformation of the young mothers, many of whom had previously faced social stigma. They advised the girls to make better decisions going forward and assured them of their support as they embark on their entrepreneurial journey. They also thanked InspiNest Foundation, SDG World and Cisu for contributing to the development of their communities with the Young Mothers in Entrepreneurship Project.

The trainers, seasoned entrepreneurs themselves, added to the list of advice with succinct yet heartfelt speeches. Having been in their respective fields of endeavor for several years, the trainers illuminated the challenges and benefits awaiting their trainees in the world of business ownership and, more specifically, the beauty industry. They further declared their continuous support for the ladies and extended to them their well wishes.

Abigail Sarfowaa Yeboah, Project Manager of the Young Mothers in Entrepreneurship Project, commended the beneficiaries for the determination and consistency exhibited throughout the month-long training. She affirmed InspiNest Foundation’s long-term support for the beneficiaries and emphasized that the end of this phase marks the beginning of a journey toward financial independence and community transformation.
